Business Weighs in on Value of ELEP

“Record Number of Industry Executives Participate in ELEP
2005-2006”

Over 20 executives from industry actively participated this year in the ELEP program. Their backgrounds ranged from engineering to law and from finance and accounting to leadership. All were passionate about the need for engineers with a sound background and understanding of business.

Larry Bickle, Principal
Huntington Ventures

“As an investor, I’m interested in engineers who can apply technology in the ‘real world.’ This program gives students insight into how marketing, financial and legal constraints changes the use of technology in business.”

Tony Catalano, Executive Vice President
Tristream Energy

“ELEP is a unique program that gives engineering students an opportunity to learn how the enterprise works, how to launch a technology-based business, and how to finance it. I wish this program had been available when I was a student in the college (1979 MSChE)."

Rusty Smith, President
Houston Chapter, The Alternative Board (TAB)

“Yogi Berra said: ‘Predictions are hard; especially about the future.’ ELEP teaches engineers the business process and how to deal with the projection of uncertainties that are inherent in the business modeling process.”
