University of Houston Hydraulics Laboratory

imageThe University of Houston Hydraulics Laboratory is used for research and teaching and includes:

Facilities

  • 120ft  x 4ft x 4ft (length x width x depth) glass wall wave tank

  • 30ft x 1ft x 3ft (length x width x depth) glass wall flume with constant head tank

  • 48ft x 3ft x 2ft (length x width x depth) wood flume

Equipment

  • 3D Acoustic Doppler Velocimeter (ADV) with 200Hz sampling capability

  • Large Scale Particle Image Velocimetry (LSPIV) capabilities for laboratory and field measurement of 2D velocity fields

  • Price-type current meters for shallow flows

  • Speedy velocity meter with Pulsar flow meter

  • Several digital cameras for lab and field data collection with a 4 channel video recorder

  • Water-level pressure transducers

  • 4 connected in-house built and supported computational clusters.
