New MCE Option in Project and Construction Management

mpcmThis proposed graduate program is intended to meet the increasing demand for better and specialized management practices for engineers in a global and multi-disciplinary construction industry. The program will focus on the construction management of public and private sector projects in transportation, public works and petrochemical industries.

Course Structure
A 10-course program totaling 30 credit hours. The distribution of courses is as follows:

Core Management — 3 Courses

Project Management — 3 Courses
Construction Management — 3 Courses

Electives — 2 Semesters
• Internships: 320 hours per semester
• Seminar series & report writing

Three Core Courses (9 hours) are compulsory:

  • Project Evaluation and Economics
  • Human Resource Management
  • Contracts and Construction Law

Three Project Management Courses (9 hours) must be chosen out of the five courses offered:

Three Construction Engineering Courses (9 hours) must be chosen out of the six courses offered:

  • Construction of Petrochemical Plants
  • Construction of Highways and Public Works
  • Construction of Buildings and Commercial Infrastructure
  • International Construction
  • Environmental Law & Regulation
  • Materials Handling and Logistics Control

One elective (3 hours) must be selected from:

  • Seminar Course: Attend select seminar series for two semesters and present a report for each seminar
  • Internship: 640 hours total and present 2 reports
