Application Process and Forms
All applications to the Civil Engineering Graduate Program
are submitted directly to the Department of Civil and Environmental
Engineering at the address in the side bar. The civil engineering
programs admit students in the fall, spring, and summer semesters.
Applications from students requesting funding are
due by February 1 for fall admission.
Upon receipt of all of the applicable information listed
below, applicants will be informed by mail that their admission
package is complete, and their file will be evaluated. If
the Committee and the Associate Dean for Engineering Graduate
Studies approve, admission will be offered.

Materials required from all students:
- Official UH
application form
- Completed Prospective Student Information Form. (PDF,

unofficial copy of transcript and GRE scores if available)
- The Privacy Rights Form (must be signed).

- Application fee. $25 US students, $75 International.
This fee cannot be waived, and must be paid as
-
a personal check drawn on US Bank,
-
a cashier's check,
-
on line using a credit card, or
-
a money order.
No action will be taken on your application until this fee
is received.
- Official GRE Scores from Educational Testing
Services (ETS). Only the general test including verbal,
quantitative, and analytical sections is required.
- One Official Transcript from all Colleges
and Universities attended. Minimum acceptable GPA is 3.0/4.0
("B") on last 60 hours attempted; higher grades
are expected in graduate courses. Applicants from India
must submit individual mark sheets for each year of study.
- Three separate letters of reference. These
must be sent directly to us from the person making the recommendation.
- Photocopy of the Diploma(s) you received,
showing the date you received the Degree(s), the type of
Degree(s) you received and from what Institution(s). Not
required if you are graduating near or after the admission
deadline.
Additional Materials from International Students (must
have an Engineering Undergraduate Degree)
- Signed letter of financial
backing.
- Official TOEFL score from ETS for foreign students whose
native language is not English or are not from an exempt
institution (see TOEFL booklet).
