MISSION:

The mission of the UH Robotics Team at the University of Houston is to serve as a forum for students to learn the hardware and software skills required to design small mobile robots.  We do this by designing robots for robotics competitions.  The team is open to all students at UH, but will be particularly attractive to students in Engineering, Technology, and Computer Science.

COMPETITIONS:

The competitions we currently target are:

bulletIn the Fall semester, students in the Sr. Design course of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering have available a number of robot-related projects to choose from, including a "local" competition.  The local competition is also available to teams not taking the course.
bulletEach April the IEEE Region 5 Conference conducts a Student Robotics Contest.  The Robotics Team uses this contest as its principal motivating focus.  During the Fall semester, teams study the contest requirements and begin their designs.  During the Spring semester, they finish construction and testing of their robots and travel to the competition.

TEAMS:

Any undergraduate teams may enter a contest (teams for the Spring semester competition must be IEEE student members).  Teams usually consist of about four students.  Students at any level may be on a team, but juniors and seniors who have accumulated a mix of technical skills will have an advantage.

If a team is designing the robot as their ECE 4334 Senior Design project, they must get prior approval from the ECE 4334 instructor.
